LICFE - President's Message - Long Island Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners

We were honored to have Randy Rowley and George Tierney, from the IRS, as our Guest Speakers at the March 16th meeting. They provided us with a ninety minute presentation about the many types of fraud investigations conducted by the IRS Criminal Investigations Division. Board Member Mort Cohen presented our "Case of the Month", which was so interesting that it is reproduced in this Newsletter. Both presentations were well received and the Chapter awarded TWO CPE Credits, as approved by ACFE.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, May 13th, at the Westbury Manor. Our Guest Speaker will be James R. Murray, CPA, CFE, Senior Managing Director of Kroll Associates. We will also present a "Case of the Month." Once again, all meeting attendees will receive certificates for TWO CPE Credits, because of the two educational programs.

The Membership Certificates and Cards for Charter Members, will be handed out at the May 13th meeting, to all Charter Members who make advance reservations. The remainder of the certificates and cards will be mailed out, within a month of the meeting. Our Web Site should also be fully operational, within the next six weeks.

In keeping with our plans, the first LICFE full day training seminar will be held on Friday, June 18th, at MOLLOY COLLEGE. Attendees will be able to earn 8 CPE CREDITS - here on LONG ISLAND! Reserve the date now. More details on the Seminar will be sent separately within the next few weeks.

On a personal note, I want to thank the Board and Malcolm Mills (ACFE) for awarding me with the Association's Distinguished Achievement Award, at the March 16th meeting. I also want to congratulate Greg Naclerio, Jane Buck and Margaret McArdle on receiving Certificates of Appreciation, signed by the President of The Association. Finally, we are all pleased with the apparent speedy recovery of our Board Member and Director of Administration Greg Somma, who missed the March 16th meeting because of emergency By-Pass Surgery. Greg is hoping to be at the May 13th meeting.
