Westbury Manor---Earn 2 CPE Credits KEN BLEIWAS is the Acting Deputy Comptroller of the Office of the State Deputy Comptroller for New York City (OSDC). He was nominated to become the State Deputy Comptroller for New York City by Alan G. Hevesi, the State Comptroller and his appointment is subject to confirmation by the New York State Senate. Mr. Bleiwas is a resident expert on New York City’s finances, and is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the budgetary, fiscal, and economic conditions of the City of New York. He has been employed at OSDC for 21 years, including nine years as Director of the Bureau of Agency Analysis. He was responsible for preparing quarterly reports on New York City’s four-year financial plan and other topics (e.g., social services, education, mass transit, and health care), and for supporting the State Comptroller in his role as a member of the New York State Financial Control Board. Mr. Bleiwas acts as OSDC’s liaison with State and City budget officials, the Office of the City Comptroller, the Financial Control Board, and the City’s disclosure bond counsel and bond underwriters. In addition, Mr. Bleiwas briefs and responds to inquiries from the State Comptroller and his representatives, as well as public officials, the media, international delegations, and other interested parties on the City’s financial affairs. Mr. Bleiwas holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from SUNY Binghamton and a Master of Public Administration from New York University, and is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association. |
